New open-backed headphones with titanium-plated
drivers, velvet ear pads & Neutrik connectors feature an airy &
transparent sound
Ultrasone Inc. announced the only open-backed headphone in its
legendary PRO Series, the PRO 2900. For the first time ever, Ultrasone
is releasing both a standard, single cable version & a balanced,
double cable version of a pair of headphones. With the PRO 2900,
Ultrasone has struck a balance between powerful & accurate sound
production, with the airy & natural sound characteristics of an
open-backed headphone.
Balanced versus Single Cable Headphones
While
standard, single cable headphones are commonplace in most pro audio &
audiophile applications, a balanced headphone coupled with a balanced
amplifier offers unique advantages over the former such as increased
audio performance due to a doubling the slew rate & voltage swing
power, while reducing distortion components & eliminating
crosstalk. The end result is decreased distortion & ultimately
superior audio performance. To achieve this paragon of headphone
fidelity, balanced headphones must be paired with a balanced amplifier
(4-channel amp with 2 inverted positive channels) that instead of using a
common ground, uses two wires per side to deliver positive &
negative audio signals to each side of the headphone.
PRO 2900 Features
Ultrasone's PRO 2900s boast a
classic black design, velvet covered black ear pads & a diamond-cut
logo insignia on the ear cup. The PRO 2900 features a 40mm
titanium-plated driver & a soft USC-Cable that is paired with
industry leading Neutrik connectors. Ultrasone's newest headphones
contain MU-Metal shielding (ULE technology) that reduce the amount of
radiation directed to the listener by up to 98%, as compared to
conventional headphones. The PRO 2900s also contain Ultrasone's
patented S-Logic Plus technology for reduced sound pressure on the ear
drum & enhanced tonal perception. This gives users the advantage of
wearing Ultrasone headphones for many hours without their ears hurting.
Ultrasone's PRO 2900 comes in a hard-sided carrying case along with
two removable cables (one spiral & one straight) & spare
speed-switch ear pads.

Top 10 Reasons to use Ultrasone
1. S-‐ Logic TM Natural Surround Sound:
The sound is moved out of the head in the room around
you. The sound appears broad & detached. Directions &
distances can be heard & perceived – as if you’re in a
live concert or in the sweet spot of fine monitor speakers.
2. Less hearing fatigue:
Listening (or working) with headphones causes hearing fatigue
rather quickly (ouch my ears hurt). With S-‐ Logic the sound
into your individual ear reduces hearing fatigue close to
zero.
3. Hear more
Details:
One of the most important facts for the working musician,
engineer, or producer! You are able to hear more detail &
nuances. For a consumer, you’ll discover hidden gems you never
heard before.
4. Safer hearing:
S-‐ Logic TM reduces sound pressure levels (3-‐4 d B) up to
40% for the same perceived loudness. This may significantly
reduce the risk of hearing damage -‐ a must if you spend a
lot of time in headphones.
5. Patented ULE Technology:
Ultra Low Emission: Unlike other headphones, with ULE you
have *radiation protection. Electro-‐magnetic emissions are
cut to Approx. 98%. Without ULE it’s as if you put 5
computer CRT monitors directly on your head. ULE is very
important.
6. Design:
Reviewers have spoken glowingly & use words like “upscale
& elegant” & have written, “...the combination of high
style & stellar sound are hard to beat.” All are incredibly
comfortable & have a professional & cutting edge look.
7. Choice of
Materials:
Edition headphones are made of the finest materials
available. But all through the ULTRASONE brands, meticulous
care is taken about the materials used.
8. Great Craftsmanship:
Great build quality, reasonable weight, precision-‐engineered & an incredibly low failure rate.
9. Warranty:
5-‐year transferrable limited warranty with receipt of
purchase. ULTRASONE is that good. Need we say more? (2
Additional years on the Edition products with the mailing in
of the warranty card)
10. Philosophy:
No other brand concentrates on just headphones, has 60
patents worldwide, designs products with accuracy for the pro,
consumer, & audiophile market.
