This shirt, known as " The Cherry & White Squares" was one of the first used by Southampton FC. The club was founded in 1885 by the Young Mens association of St Marys Church & was originally regognised as St Marys YMA FC. This was until 1894 when the club reached the Southern League & was renamed Southampton St Marys FC until 1896 when the " St Marys" suffix was dropped leaving the nickname " The Saints" as the only remaing church connection. This shirt is long sleeved & is made from drill cotton.
