The Wire What is Britain’s’ avant garde music magazine? The Wire! Founded in 1982 this magazine originally concentrated on contemporary jazz & improvised music but has changed over the years to include experimental music. Now you can find articles covering hip hop modern classical post-rock free improvisation & electronic music articles. Nothing is left to your imagination
- music is spectacular! The Wire Magazine features articles & studies such as the Invisible Jukebox which is an interview conducted with artists using unknown tracks played to that artist. The Primer is an in-depth article on music acts & the latest & greatest on the music scene. The Primer also features avant music in every issue. The Wire is focused on music but it likes to work with cover art & artistic works. The Wire also represents a weekly radio program on the London community radio station Resonance FM. Look to the latest issue of The Wire to read about Flying Lotus & Laurie Spiegel’s electronic music. On the cover of a current issue Britt Brown (a contributor to The Wire) meets Fly Lo (Flying Lotus) at his Los Angeles home. Here Britt hears how his sampladelic music meets with children’s stories. To me that sounds very complicated & somewhat of an oxymoron. You can also read about US drone collective Pelt & John Butcher’s Invisible Jukebox. There is so much in The Wire Magazine for those who love music. Subscribe & read. Want something fun? You can have the opportunity to purchase a limited edition T-shirt in The Wire’s Shop. This is a design by English composer Richard Skelton & is light & dark gray on a slate shirt. Awesome. There are other fun musical things in The Shop like T-shirts hats jackets & awesome posters. Don’t miss a single issue of The Wire if you are an out of this world music lover.
